1- BTech branch change after ...Sir, few questions:

1- BTech branch change after common 1st year: IITs have strict branch change rule and very tough to get a branch change. But if two students mutually agree for a change, shouldn't the rules be relaxed a bit given both have only studied common curriculum of 1st year.

2- Mathematics n Computing seems exciting branch, shouldn't something similar be created combining EE and CSE e.g. EECS (seems MIT have done it) and probably at BTech level, we may not need CSE at all (MnC and EECS may suffice or a third combo EEMnC :-))?

3- Open MBA department in each IIT and then push students in IITs for at least 5 years of study (either choose MTech/MS or MBA or some other master's level course after BTech; can be done at time of joining or after 2nd year or both). This way we can have more MTech graduates and can help lower immigration/brain-drain via studies.

4- IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak have integrated MBA program (IPM) post class 12'th. Other IIMs should also allow it, will lower shifting of IIT graduates outside of science/bring in more STEM oriented students in IITs.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01285814109089459445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4273139713770751485.post-83547927095638204722019-06-17T22:31:00.300+05:302019-06-17T22:31:00.300+05:30Sir, few questions on entrance JEE/JEE Adv entranc...Sir, few questions on entrance JEE/JEE Adv entrance exam:

1- JEE Mains/Adv syllabus: Why syllabus covers both class 11'th and class 12'th chapters, one can always make a merit list out of class 12'th syllabus only as well. BITS, IISC, IISER etc allows board toppers (top 1 percentile) i.e. class 12th syllabus, to apply directly, probably so does SAT. This will lower burnout and also bring down time and cost of coaching etc.

2- JEE Mains: Shouldn't it also test on logical reasoning and languages skill (e.g. BITSAT, IIIT-Hyd UGEE exam tests both). This will help reduce the number of important tests to two i.e. JEE Mains and JEE Adv.

3- JEE Mains, JEE Adv: like architecture have separate test, why not have similar separate test for CSE/Maths related branch (CSE, Maths n Computing etc) where instead of Chemistry, there can be test on logical reasoning.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01285814109089459445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4273139713770751485.post-83933860065926198822018-07-26T10:59:57.239+05:302018-07-26T10:59:57.239+05:30Sir, please tell if I have option between nsit ECE...Sir, please tell if I have option between nsit ECE and IIT jammJ electrical , what should I doAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10966071644003883280noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4273139713770751485.post-89583368311685600192018-07-17T10:51:56.219+05:302018-07-17T10:51:56.219+05:30Brand name versus high quality of education. Our branch change rules (in most IITs) are such that it is easier to go from more popular program to less popular program. Based on this, shouldn't a student think that I should just take up the most popular program now, and if in the next one year I feel that I should take up something else, it will be easy for me to go there. But won't be so easy if I take up a less popular program and then after a year I want to go to more popular program. IITB used to have a rule that you could get the program after a year which you can get through JEE counseling. I don't know if they still have it and whether they advertise it among JEE candidates. May be, if we do something like what IIIT Delhi does. For a branch change, it is not just CPI, but also eligibility. You can get CS only if you at least had a B (or whatever) in programming and data structures courses in the first year. That would mean that it could potentially be difficult to go from a popular to less popular program as well. Also, the popularity changes drastically after 1st year (at least at IITK). While CS and EE retain the 1st and 2nd rank during branch change, we see many more requests for Maths and Economics later on. We never give out this data, which will force people to think of alternatives to JEE OR/CR. (Of course, it only means, they have two sets of OR/CRs and they are still looking at OR/CR.)Dheeraj Sanghihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06367519409840642182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4273139713770751485.post-19739531236013997352018-06-25T02:47:31.736+05:302018-06-25T02:47:31.736+05:30@Dheeraj Verma, should have contacted someone befo...@Dheeraj Verma, should have contacted someone before reaching there.
